Board Member Application

The Directors of 10C Shared Space, a not-for-profit board, are responsible for the oversight of strategy, risk management, social enterprise business model, community programs, financial management, reporting and impact measurement communications. 10C currently has opportunities for new members on its very active and engaged board of Directors. The term is 3 years. A maximum total term of 6 years can be completed back to back by any board member.

The board generally meets at 10C on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. In addition to the regular meetings, there are 2 retreat sessions annually requiring the commitment of a 4-5 hr block of time either on a weekend or weekday, as determined by the team. This, including email and direct involvement in the area of selected board responsibilities may total 8-10 hours per month.

10C is a living social innovation lab and welcoming hub for social change that provides a platform for people engaging in collaborative work to improve the wellbeing and vitality of our community.  Today, 10C activates 40,000 s.f. of real estate for social purposes, such as the 10C community hub on Carden Street, which is home to active coworking and event space uses, the Nourish shared community commercial kitchen, an art gallery, and urban agriculture projects. At 10C, community members, meet, connect, work,gather, and exchange ideas, all working toward  change. 10C is currently expanding to lead the revitalization of the Guelph Farmers’ Market. Our immeasurable benefits extend to the deepening of community relationships, the opening of new opportunities, and discovery of new ways to solve problems.

We seek applications from individuals with a broad range of skills and knowledge and encourage applications from those with accounting, investment, financial planning and management, legal, and fundraising expertise and with interests and expertise in business, technology, and social finance.

Applications will be reviewed by the Board Nominations Committee and applicants will be contacted between May 2 and May 13.  Selected candidates will be invited to meet with the committee members during the week of May 16, 2022.
