Meet 10C Changemaker: Tri City Bee Rescue
For years, Mike and Tri City Bee Rescue have been deeply involved in community outreach. Now, as the owner of a small store dedicated to supporting local artists and environmental conservation, Mike is making social change a priority.
Mike and the team at Tri City Bee Rescue opened The Hive, an arts collective at 349 Elizabeth Street in The Ward. They are a group of dedicated beekeepers who safely remove and relocate honeybees and native pollinators. They collect swarms, remove colonies from peoples homes and teach workshops on keeping honeybees. Mike believes that by saving bees, he can help save the world—no small feat, but one he’s dedicated to achieving.
Tri City Bee Rescue are changemakers because they are working as a social enterprise – when you buy from their store, you’re enabling them to continue efforts to rescue, relocate, educate and stimulate the honeybee and native bee populations in our area. Through the sale of their products, they help fund rescue and relocation efforts.
Mike and his team at The Hive are eager to collaborate with all community members, creators, and innovators. With many Sunday markets on the horizon, they invite anyone with an idea and the determination to make it happen and build events at their location.
