Part-Time Farmers’ Market Events & Admin Assistant
10C Shared Space (10C) is currently seeking a Farmers’ Market Administration Assistant to join the team in a part-time capacity (8-12 hours per week). Working as part of the 10C and Farmers’ Market team, you will support events and administration at the Guelph Farmers’ Market and 10C.
Responsibilities of the Farmers’ Market Events & Admin Assistant will include:
Market logistics for Saturday (Year Round) and Thursday (April-Dec) Markets:
- Support site set-up (and take-down) including preparation of all areas of the facility in advance of market opening, including support for vendor set-up, wayfinding materials, and maintenance before, during and after markets
- Support administrative tasks, responding to email and vendor requests, data tracking (customer counts, etc), vendor invoicing and receiving payments using online and digital platforms
- Support tasks related to market execution, including responding to urgent vendor concerns, maintaining a clean and safe environment and other duties as needed
- Support the set-up and execution of other events taking place on market grounds, including community meetings, food events and other market related events
- Be available for customer questions and support during markets
- In collaboration with the 10C and market teams, take initiative and think creatively about ways to improve market operations
Other events:
- Help execute events at the Market by ensuring the space is ready and accessible for community use and be available during events for support needed, including set-up, wayfinding and tear down
You bring these experiences and abilities to the role:
- Flexible schedule with availability to work Saturday morning/afternoon and Thursday afternoon/evening to support the main market activities
- Experience in or enthusiasm for customer service and/or food service
- You are a problem solver, can take initiative and like to think creatively about ways to increase community engagement in local activities
- You enjoy working as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team and have great attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience supporting community events and meetings with tasks like set-up, take down and anticipating a variety of needs
- Comfort and familiarity with software programs like Google Workspace, Customer Relationship Management software, invoicing/payment terminals
- Some physical labour will be a part of this role (i.e. moving tables, setting up tents)
Compensation and Details:
- This is a part-time opportunity with a guaranteed base of 8-12 hours/week with a starting wage of $21.30/hour (Living Wage for Guelph-Wellington)
- Hours of work vary based on the season and levels of activity and include most Saturdays (most 30+/year) from 6:30am-2:30pm and many Thursdays from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with some evening and weekend shifts scheduled in mutual agreement as needed
- The work location is onsite at 10C Shared Space at 42 Carden Street, Guelph and at the Guelph Farmers’ Market at 2 Gordon Street, Guelph
