There is something for everyone at this year’s Guelph Film Festival

Guelph Film Festival

This year’s festival focuses on resistance and celebrating community. We jump into the festival with a film on the life and influence of Black trans soul singer Jackie Shane, then we shift into the dark history and hopeful future that surround the buffalo for Indigenous nations. During the week we delve into community activism through “bike kitchens” and how a feminist media movement in Canada changed the world. We close the festival with burlesque, building a space to claim individual agency through sexuality and embodied experience. Throughout the weekends we play with series of shorts on be/longing and eco-explorations to bring everything together into a dynamic program with notes of play, anti-oppression, community-building and of course, social and environmental justice.

Don’t forget to submit your Tiny Docs by Young People

Guelph Film Festival

Hello Guelph/Wellington kid filmmakers (and parents)!
Every year, kids (0-11 years old) from across Guelph, Wellington County, and the surrounding area are invited to create 1 to 2 minute short documentaries about their worlds and submit them to be screened as part of the Guelph Film Festival (Sunday of the festival).

These films can be shot on a phone (or something fancier). They can be polished, with lots of angles and shots, or be done in one take from one angle. It’s all about the kid director’s vision!

Guelph Emerging Artist Mentorship Program is Currently Accepting Submissions

Guelph Arts Council

The Guelph Emerging Artist Mentorship Project (GEAMP) is a unique opportunity for emerging artists to receive support in the critical transition into professional practice. This project is presented by GAC in partnership with the University of Guelph School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM).

Through the project, emerging musicians, visual artists, and cultural managers work with established-artist mentors to develop the professional networks, business and management skills needed for creative careers in Guelph. The collaboration has provided them with valuable opportunities to work creatively with each other and with established arts professionals, to promote their work, and to gain experience in curation, social media, marketing/publicity, graphic design, and more.
