Guelph Film Festival
GFF invites you to join our Screenings & Partnerships Committee. This group helps build relationships, make screenings happen, strengthen community connections, and extend the festival’s reach right from the start.
The committee plays a crucial role in helping us make the biggest impact each year. Think of it as the festival’s connective tissue: films, communities, partners, guests, conversations, and all the sparks that turn a screening into a GFF event.
The Screenings & Partnerships Committee typically meets at least four times between June and October and supports the festival in a variety of ways, including:
• Brainstorm potential speakers and moderators, and helping us connect with them
• Suggest sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships
• Promote the festival through personal and professional networks
• Participate in email campaigns to encourage local organizations to engage with the festival and help amplify specific screenings
• Host a screening during the festival (Directors too), acting as a festival ambassador by welcoming guests and speakers, making connections, and help introduce the event
One of the things we value most about this group is the mix of perspectives, ideas, enthusiasm, and community relationships that everyone brings to the table. Whether you have been involved for years or are joining us for the first time, we are grateful to have you as part of the GFF community.

Reel Stories: Documentary Filmmaking for Youth
Ed Video Media Arts Centre
Reel Stories is a free educational program teaching youth in grades 9-12 the art of compelling storytelling through documentary. Running from September 2026 to January 2027, the sessions will take place every other Monday from 4:30-6pm (session dates listed on Ed Video’s website). Participants will work from September to January to create short documentaries, exploring the filmmaking process while teaching technical skills in story formation and planning, scriptwriting, interviewing, smartphone and camera-based filmmaking, lighting techniques, sound recording and video editing.

The Tiny Human Company is now offering their very popular prenatal class in a condensed weekend format! Expectant parents can register via our website. The August weekend class will be held August 22 and 23 from 9:30am – 2pm
Audio Feedback as a Creative Tool

Facilitated by sound artist and composer, Dave Riedstra, this workshop teaches techniques for working with audio feedback safely, creatively, and how to guide it without losing its characteristic liveliness and unpredictability. Happening on Tuesday, September 8th from 7-9PM at 46 Essex Street, Guelph ON.
Guelph Dance presents Svāhā! by Nova Dance with River Run Centre October 29th
This October, at River Run Centre’s Main Stage, a cast of 16 performers from a diversity of cultural backgrounds, comes together in a collage of moving images, pulsating rhythms and intense emotions. Expressing the uniqueness of the individual and the value of community, Svāhā! is an offering of dance, music and joy! The evening begins with a special performance by The Body Choir – an ad hoc group of local dancers working with Nova Dance in the spirit of Svāhā! presenting a brand new dance!
Build a Troupe Improv Class
Guelph Comedy Festival
The Guelph Comedy Festival is running a “Build a Troupe” improv class at 10C from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday nights from September 10th to October 8th. This 5-week ensemble class culminates in a performance at the 2026 Guelph Comedy Festival on Thursday, October 15th. This class explores foundational improvisation skills including scene work, storytelling, and stagecraft. Instructor: Cas Knihnisky
Habitat Renewal Days

Join us in caring for our shared environment through hands-on ecological restoration. Healthy ecosystems depend on a rich diversity of native plants and wildlife, yet invasive species can disrupt these natural relationships and reduce habitat quality. Through Habitat Renewal Days, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about local ecosystems, connect with others who care about the land, and make a tangible contribution to creating healthier, more resilient landscapes for both people and nature.
No experience is necessary. Training, tools, and guidance will be provided for both events. Join us for one event or both and be part of a community effort to restore native habitat and care for the landscapes we all share.
