Cherie Bauman (she/her)

Farmers’ Market Lead

[email protected]

From her roots in archaeology, to work in supporting sustainable agriculture, cooking in a farm-to-table kitchen and now as the Farmers’ Market Lead, Cherie has an appreciation for the many treasures that can be found in the soil. Cherie enjoys being in the company of entrepreneurial individuals and helping new projects take flight. She is excited to see the connections made and the flourishing of new ideas that happen in the Guelph Farmers’ Market community.

Cherie loves food and sees the incredible way food as culture unites and welcomes people, nourishing on a multitude of levels. She takes pleasure in regularly attending the Guelph Farmers’ Market and visits other markets locally and internationally as a tourist. She has worked with local farmers looking to become market gardeners and supported them through her participation with organizations such as FarmStart, The Ecological Farmers of Ontario and the Organic Council of Ontario. Her work with farmers has taught her about the importance of local food, and her work with refugees has taught her the importance of familiar food. As a cook in a retreat centre she saw first hand the ways food can be part of a personal spiritual journey. Cherie sees the Guelph Farmers Market at the heart of community.

Cherie is a long term resident of Guelph, loves to cook and to share meals and stories with her family and friends.
