Join the 10C Board of Directors

10C is seeking new members for the Board of Directors!

We seek applications from individuals with a broad range of skills and experience, particularly those with entrepreneurial drive and expertise in fundraising, legal, human resources, social finance/impact investing and financial management—alongside strong local and regional networks. The deadline to submit your interest is Sunday, May 3, 2026 by 11:59PM, come join us!

This year, we are looking to recruit for the following areas of interest:

  • Finance Committee – Role includes financial analysis, guidance, and oversight of the budget and long-term financial health. Finance committee members should be those who would consider stepping into a future Treasurer role which includes collaborating with staff to manage the financial health of the organization and leading the Finance Committee.
  • Fundraising Committee – Members collaborate with staff and fellow board members to shape and implement the organization’s fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on relationship-based philanthropy. This includes making and stewarding outreach connections to foundations, corporate partners, and private donors, opening doors to new networks, and supporting long-term resource development. Committee members help position the organization for sustainable growth by strengthening its visibility, credibility, and funding partnerships, and by actively championing its mission within their personal and professional circles.
  • Strong local and regional networks – The next five years for 10C will be a period of exciting growth, and we are seeking individuals who can help expand both our impact and our outreach by strengthening relationships, connections, and visibility across the region.
  • Entrepreneurial and organizational drive – with a strong interest in human dynamics, organizational culture, and how people work together to build effective, values-driven non-profit organizations.
  • All board roles may lead to future Chair and Vice Chair leadership opportunities.

Logistics

  • The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (except for July and August) from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
  • Meetings are held in-person (preferred) at 10C, with hybrid meeting options possible.
  • There are up to 2 in-person retreat sessions annually, each approximately 4-5 hours.
  • Additional monthly committee meetings, communication and pre-reading or document review outside of meeting time, with an average of 4-6 hours per month.
  • Key roles like Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair can expect more of a time commitment especially around certain times of year, like financial year end, budgeting and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Director term is 3 years with a maximum of 3 terms completed back to back.
  • All members of the Board of Directors must also be members in good standing of 10C Shared Space.

10C is committed to learning, equity and building a diverse community in which everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

We are on a journey to ensure the Board of Directors represents and reflects the rich diversity of Guelph. The 10C Board embraced and met the federal 50/30 Challenge and together with the staff team, applies a lens of intersectionality, understanding that individuals often face multi-faceted, overlapping forms of social identities and various forms of discrimination and marginalization may be present as barriers to full participation in community life.

The 50 – 30 Challenge asks that organizations aspire to two goals:

  • Gender parity (50% women and/or non-binary people) on Canadian boards and/or in senior management; and
  • Significant representation (30%) on Canadian boards and/or senior management of members of other equity-deserving groups, including those who identify as Racialized, Black, and/or People of colour (“Visible Minorities”), People with disabilities (including invisible and episodic disabilities), 2SLGBTQ+ and/or gender and sexually diverse individuals, and Aboriginal and/or Indigenous Peoples. The program and participants recognize Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Métis and Inuit, as founding Peoples of Canada and underrepresented in positions of economic influence and leadership.

10C encourages applications from those across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, geographic locations and lived experiences. 10C values lived experience alongside educational and workplace experience; if you are comfortable highlighting your lived experience on your application, this will help us consider your application in a holistic way. We aim to do our best to meet the accessibility and accommodation needs of our Board members by hosting meetings online and in-person, as well as supporting other methods of engagement.
