“Legal Options in the Healing Journey: An Information Session on Different Paths to Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence”

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis

Do you know your legal rights and options when it comes to finding justice after sexual violence?

Come and learn from the experts on May 22 at the Italian Canadian Club (135 Ferguson St., Guelph).

The incredible team at Jellinek Ellis Gluckstein Lawyers will share their expertise on the legal options available for survivors of sexual violence, abuse and assault.

The morning session will focus on how service providers and other professionals can best inform and support survivors on different paths towards justice, while the afternoon session will be focused on survivors themselves. Free for survivors – breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Creative Facilitation Training with Nadia Chaney and Art Not Shame

Creative Facilitation Training will provide individuals with accessible and timely training in creative facilitation with a focus on developing anti-oppressive group dynamics. Led by international arts facilitation trainer Nadia Chaney (MEd), participants will be equipped over 3 in-depth days with the skills/experience necessary to apply arts-based, facilitation methodologies to their own teaching/facilitating contexts.

Knotty Groups is for people who want to learn creative yet practical methods for high-stakes facilitation with vulnerable populations and people in conflict. Nadia’s focus is on developing ease of use with simple, flexible models, so facilitators can be as present as possible with their groups while employing tools that have been extensively tested. The art of presence is at the heart of this training. Through deep, guided personal reflection using arts-based practices, participants can expect to find that the change they want to see in their groups, they will first see in themselves during Knotty Groups.


July Arts Explosion Camp: Registration + Call for Volunteer Counsellors

Arts Explosion and Performance Focus camps with Guelph Dance are the perfect place for youth to unleash their inner artist! Campers explore dance, music, visual art, theatre, mediation & mindfulness in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Space is available in Week 1 (July 7-11), Week 3 (July
21-25) & Week 4 (July 28-August 1).

We are also seeking volunteers ages 14+ to serve as counsellors. A fun experience for those interested in the arts and working with children. A great opportunity to fulfill High School volunteer hours.

The Guelph Dance Festival returns to venues across the city, from May 30 to June 1, 2025! Move and be moved by a dynamic range of work by inspiring local and national artists. Performances, workshops & celebrations welcome to all! Tickets on-sale now. 🌟🌀⚡️

We are seeking volunteers to support the festival. Volunteers greet patrons, direct people to performance locations/seats, collect donations, and help with set up or clean-up. Volunteers who work three or more shifts will receive a complimentary ticket to one of the ticketed events.

Alternating between both creative spaces, Crit Nights will bring together local painters, sculptors, printmakers and other local artists to engage in a critical dialogue about each other’s work. Artists are encouraged to bring an in-progress or complete artwork to share with the group. Facilitated by local artist Paige Bromby, these monthly group critiques provide valuable feedback on your artwork, a friendly safe environment to share ideas and an opportunity to connect with local artists in your community!


Improve Brain & Cognitive Health: Herbal Medicine for Memory, Focus & more

On Wednesday May 28th (6:30 – 8 pm) learn how you can improve your brain function & cognitive well-being through natural remedies (herbal teas, tinctures, capsules, etc.) with registered clinical herbalist Zhyfhs Millicent.

Herbal medicine can support the brain in many ways, including: Assisting with particular neurotransmitters; Boosting circulation of blood (and thus oxygen and nutrients) to your brain; Helping increase resilience to stress, i.e. decreasing the negative ways stress can affect the brain.

We will also discuss some supplements and nutritional factors that have proven effective (because if the brain doesn’t have the building blocks it needs, herbal medicine is but a band-aid solution).
