Meet Soup Sisters Guelph, a registered charity that utilizes the Nourish Kitchen and the 10C space!
Soup Sisters was founded in Calgary 2009 and has since expanded all across Canada. Soup Sisters Guelph – run by Coordinators Lara Jones, Sarah Hurst, Julia Forward, and Jane Parmley – began in February of 2025.
Once a month community members come together for an evening of soup making in the Nourish Kitchen. Josh Campbell, the lead chef, sources the ingredients and guides the class with the help of Heather Mitchell, former chef at WIC. From Chicken Noodle to Thai chili & Moroccan lentil, the Soup Sisters recipe book covers a range of vegetarian, vegan, and meat based soups from across the globe! “Soup is accessible. It’s easy to take away, easy to freeze, and reflected by so many cultures.” – Lara
During each session, approximately 200 servings of 4 different soups are made, packaged into reusable containers and donated to local non-profits like Hope House and Guelph Wellington Women In Crisis. “Soup is nourishing for the body but also for the soul.” – Lara
A separate portion is also put aside for everyone to enjoy at dinner in the Community Classroom. Lara loves how convenient the 10C space is for her event needs “It’s hard to find a space that not only has the commercial kitchen facilities but has the social space for our community dinners.”
Joining 10C has given Soup Sisters the perfect space to host their soup making nights! To be apart of the next event on September 10 email Soup Sisters Guelph
