Food Product Development Lead (Contract)
We are seeking an entrepreneurial individual to co-create signature local food products for the 10C Nourish Café & the Nourish Farmers’ Market Booth! This role is open to current students in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph.
10C is seeking a self-driven, detail-oriented, outgoing changemaker to help launch a new initiative: the development of signature food products that will fill a taste/flavour/nutrition gap, generate revenue, spotlight local producers, and expand awareness of 10C’s work across the community. You will interface with other members of the 10C team, while leading this initiative.
- Location: Guelph, Ontario (hybrid with in-person kitchen and product development work required)
- Contract Length: Commences January 6, 2026. Duration is flexible from 6–9 months
- Hours: Part-time / project-based
- Compensation: $25 per hour approx. 10-30 hours per week. Increased hours during summer months is an option. Maximum total contract value for this position over the period is $10,000
- This role will require the candidate to use their own computer

About the Role
We’re seeking a creative and entrepreneurial Food Product Development Lead to design, test, and launch new food or beverage products that can be sold through Nourish Café, the 10C Nourish Farmers’ Market booth, and partner retail channels. This role is ideal for a food innovator—someone who loves ideas, product design, recipe development, small-batch production, and building meaningful connections across the local food ecosystem.
You will steward product development from idea to implementation, including:
Product Development
- Research opportunities and identify a viable food or beverage concept that aligns with 10C’s mission and strengths
- Create and refine recipes using primarily local, seasonal ingredients
- Develop scalable small-batch production processes suitable to start onsite in Nourish kitchen facility
- Source and select packaging that meets public health food safety standards
- Manage all product information, including sales information, product labeling, ingredients lists, nutrition facts, shelf-life testing, and relevant certification details
- Be open to social enterprise employment training opportunities in the product implementation design
Local Sourcing & Partnerships
- Identify and connect with local farms, processors, producers, and 10C members
- Build a sustainable ingredient sourcing plan
- Strengthen food-sector partnerships across the 10C network
Testing, Launch & Sales
- Pilot the product through café tastings, special events, or farmers’ market sales and sampling
- Collaborate with 10C’s communications team and external suppliers on branding, packaging, and storytelling
- Collect customer feedback and refine the product as needed
Operational Handoff
- Develop a costing model, pricing structure, distribution plan and revenue projections
- Document production workflows and support transition and training of ongoing production to the Nourish team or future food entrepreneurs

Nourish Café Coordinator (Short Term Contract)
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and customer focused individual to coordinate and host the Nourish Café, starting with a simple on-site daily beverage and snack offering, meals from the Nourish kitchen members, as well as pop-ups to showcase Nourish members. Based on available funding, this role is open to individuals 18-30 years of age and is for a short term to start (January 2 to March 31, 2026).
10C is seeking a self-driven, detail-oriented, outgoing changemaker to increase the level of activity in the Nourish Café. You will interface with other members of the 10C team, while leading this initiative.
- Location: Guelph, Ontario (on-site with in-person kitchen and product development work required)
- Contract Length: Commences January 6, 2026. Duration is 3 months, possibility to continue based on available funding
- Hours: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week
- Compensation: $25 per hour
- The employee is between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) at the project start date

About the Role
We’re seeking a creative and entrepreneurial Nourish Café Coordinator to scale up the Nourish Café offering. This role is ideal for someone who loves food and loves welcoming and connecting with community members.
In the role of Nourish Café Coordinator you will:
- Develop the café offering bringing creativity and practicality by creating menus and pop-up/permanent offerings for 10C’s on-site community food services
- Host the Nourish Café during key hours (approximately 30-50% of time will be spent in front-of house capacity)
- Develop scalable small-batch production processes suitable for the Nourish kitchen facility and build a sustainable ingredient sourcing plan
- Support the 10C team with special events planning, day-of event co-ordination, organizing food, vendors, and managing bar, menu, drink tickets, etc
- Collaborate with 10C’s communications team on promotion, and storytelling
- Collect customer feedback and refine the offering as needed
- Offer kitchen tours and member information sessions upon request
- Respond to inquiries over email and phone for inquiries about the Nourish café and kitchen related activities, including networking community members to the enterprises in the Nourish kitchen
What You Bring
- A love for food and food creators
- Comfort working in a commercial or community kitchen environment with relevant Safe Food Handlers certificate, Smart Serve and other food service related education or experience
- Experience in food entrepreneurship, or product development
- Responsive customer-focused, service mindset to ensure community members feel supported and welcomed
- Entrepreneurial experience or enthusiasm for food product development, ingredient sourcing, sales and revenue generation
- Creativity and willingness to iterate quickly
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a supportive team
- Physical labour (able to lift up to 25 lbs), ability to move furniture, equipment and handle light cleaning duties
- Valid G or G2 drivers license is an asset
Candidate Eligibility (per the criteria of our funding programs)
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:
- The employee is between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) at the project start date
- The employee is unemployed or underemployed
- The program’s definition of “unemployed” refers to employees who are new to the organization and were without employment before the start of the project
- The program’s definition of “underemployed” includes either:
- Youth employees who previously occupied a position in which they were overqualified and, as part of the project, are now moving to a position better suited for their experience and education, and therefore, considered a career advancement or a promotion
- Example: Youth who previously worked in a non-agricultural related position or company, such as clothing retail, and is now moving towards a position in an agricultural related position or company
- Youth employees who moved from part-time status (less than 30 hours per week) to full-time status (30 hours or more per week)
- The employee is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or a status refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- The employee does not receive Employment Insurance (EI) during the project period
- Employees who have previously been hired under the Youth Employment and Skills Program are not eligible
- Employees in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel measures are not eligible unless they have received refugee status or have become permanent residents
