During this Nourishing Connections workshop, you will explore the fascinating world of chocolate — learning about different varieties, the science and hear stories of chocolate traditions from Mexico. You will choose from a wide selection of high-quality inclusions such as roasted nuts, dried fruits, spices, and seasonal treats, combining them to create your own one-of-a-kind flavour profiles.

Along the way, you’ll receive step-by-step instructions, practical tips, and take-home guidance so you can recreate the magic in your own kitchen.

Each participant will take home two beautifully wrapped bars of their own handmade chocolate bark — perfect to enjoy yourself or as a  gift during the holiday season.

Nourishing Connections will host a variety of food focused programs and activities for individuals in Guelph and Wellington County for community members 55+

About the Facilitator:
Monica Lopez Castro was born in Mexico City, where chocolate is part of everyday life. She remembers drinking hot chocolate whisked with a “molinillo” and enjoying “atole champurrado”, a blend of corn dough, “chocolate de mesa”, cinnamon, and sugar. In 2016, Monica began learning more formally through classes at the Museum of Chocolate as well as tastings and chocolate and cacao workshops in Mexico. Now living in Canada, she is starting to share her knowledge through online and in-person workshops, inspiring others to discover the joy and creativity of chocolate.
