25+ hours of programming, 6 events mark a new milestone in community engagement
May 16, 2025 – 10C has just wrapped its most active and well-attended single week of programming at the Guelph Farmers’ Market, setting a new benchmark for the space’s activation and community connection.
Across seven days from Sunday May 4 to Saturday, May 10, the Market hosted more than 25 hours of programming and welcomed over 1,400 people (in addition to the regular Saturday morning Farmers’ Market) to a vibrant lineup of events that brought together farmers, families, local artists, small businesses, and community members of all ages.
From visual art to live music, movie screenings to vintage markets, the week proved what’s possible when community spaces are activated with purpose. It marked a shift — not just in activity, but in identity — as the Market continues its evolution into a full-fledged community hub.
The week began with the Sunday Art Market, where local artists and makers transformed the space into a pop-up gallery of original works. On Monday, the Market came alive with Music Monday, a national celebration hosted in partnership with the Coalition for Music Education in Canada, highlighting the importance of music in classrooms. By Wednesday, the Market was reimagined once again for a cozy screening of The M Factor – an informative film and panel discussion on menopause in a cinema-style setup. On Thursday, the CSA Pickup connected locals to fresh food and the farmers who grow it. Saturday morning brought the classic Farmers’ Market, drawing large crowds both indoors and outdoors for fresh produce and handmade goods, while Saturday night delivered a stylish transformation with the Vintage Night Market event, an evening filled with curated fashion, music, and one-of-a-kind finds.
Over the course of the week, the market saw a 380% increase in activation hours, growing from just 5 to 24 hours of total activity. But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about what becomes possible when a public space is opened with intention. At 10C, we believe in the power of space to build inclusive, connected, and creative communities — and this week at the Guelph Farmers’ Market was a clear expression of that vision in action.
With each event and partnership, that vision comes to life in new ways. What we saw this past week was a glimpse of what we hope for the market and our community: one where connection doesn’t just happen on Saturdays, but every day of the week. If this past week was any indication, we’re only just getting started!
