- Community Engagement Assistant: This is an excellent role to develop communications and customer service skills, event management and operational capacities while working with a variety of community members (We are hiring for 2 positions for this role).
- Community Food Project Assistant: Working as part of the 10C team and alongside Community Advisors for the Food Uniting Neighbours (f.u.n.) project, this role will work to support community food activities including food growing, cooking, workshops and events.
- Graphic Design Assistant: This is a fantastic role to develop digital design capabilities for the 10C website, newsletters and social media channels, including the Guelph Farmers’ Market and special events.

Community Engagement Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Assistant to join the team this summer. This is an excellent role to develop professional storytelling abilities, communications skills, and event support capacities while working with a variety of community members within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities of the Community Engagement Assistants will include:
Community Placemaking – Take pride and responsibility in the maintenance of 10C spaces and connect to the local community.
- Engage in member and community meetings and interactions in person, via phone and email to answer questions, support information requests and ensure timely follow-up
- Assist with greeting members and building users, with additional reception duties
- Set-up and reset meeting and event spaces, including arranging furniture, setting out stationary supplies and setting up tech equipment and cleaning
- Support the running of 10C events from planning and set-up through to execution
- Collaborate with 10C team and Nourish Kitchen members to ensure smooth running and collaboration in the Nourish Kitchen, 10C’s shared commercial kitchen. May include the development and support of additional programming aimed at food literacy and food security.
- Use initiative and creative thinking to make suggestions for improved operations and organizational efficiencies.
10C Projects and Programs – Working closely with members of the 10C team, the Community Engagement Assistants will identify areas and types of communications support needed.
- Promote community and cultural events happening at 10C, such as community growing initiatives and food security support
- Support the development of engaging presentations and reports across a variety of platforms to celebrate and share 10C’s work
- Curate and share project/program content through digital media channels (i.e. event promotions, project profiles, resource building and sharing)
- Create content for social media using graphic design and scheduling programs
Member and Partner Profiles – In close collaboration with the 10C staff team, the Community Engagement Assistant will get to know the 10C member community and develop engaging ‘changemaker’ stories to be shared through digital media. These tasks will include:
- Work with 10C staff team to identify and prioritize member list
- Communicate and collaborate with individual members to understand and document their stories
- Use digital media (blog, newsletter, social media) to curate and share member story content including written content, photos and videos
Other tasks and responsibilities:
- In this role and in consultation with their supervisor, the Community Engagement Assistant will have the opportunity to take on tasks and responsibilities in line with their individual interests and identified growth opportunities.
The Community Engagement Assistant will bring these experiences and abilities to the role:
- Commitment and enthusiasm to working as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team
- Experience in customer service or in a community facing role with comfort in answering guest inquiries, receiving mail and general inquiries at reception
- Ability and willingness to anticipate needs, set-up and support in the running of community events
- Dedicated to community building, creating equitable and dynamic public spaces and conversations for all community members to feel their authentic self.
- Physical labour (able to lift up to 25 lbs), ability to move furniture, equipment and handle light cleaning duties
- Comfort and familiarity with software programs like Google Workspace, Later, Airtable, Keela, basic design skills using Canva and/or Adobe Suite an asset
- Experience creating content for various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and/or other networks
- Exceptional communication skills with experience in social media campaigns, story-telling and/or copywriting
- Creativity and curiosity
Compensation and Details:
- The work location is fully onsite at 10C Shared Space at 42 Carden Street, Guelph
- This is a contract role based on 35 hours/week at $21.30/hour (Ontario living wage for Guelph-Wellington).
- The position duration is 8 weeks and between the dates of mid May to August 30, 2025.
- Community Engagement Assistants may be required to use their own computer for this role.

Community Food Project Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
We are currently seeking a Community Food Project Assistant to join the team this summer. Working as part of the 10C team and alongside Community Advisors for the Food Uniting Neighbours (f.u.n.) project, the person in this role will work to support community food activities including food growing, cooking, workshops and events.
Responsibilities of the Community Food Project Assistant will include:
Support for Community Food Projects, including the Guelph Farmers’ Market:
- Assist with planning and delivery of food focused literacy workshops including cooking and food preservation
- Help manage community food production operations in community gardens
- Support with logistics and implementation of community food access initiatives including f.u.n. Fridays and Super Foodies
- Support operations of the Guelph Farmers’ Market as needed. The Market operates Thursday (4PM-7PM), Saturday (8AM-1PM) and occasionally Sundays for special events – includes set up, take down and vendor/volunteer support
- Help recruit and coordinate volunteers working on food production and preparation tasks
Community Outreach and Project Support:
- In close collaboration with 10C staff, f.u.n. project staff and f.u.n. Community Advisors, the Community Food Project Assistant will get to know the community and support project planning and delivery
- Offer insights and ideas to develop new programming that will support community food literacy and food security
- Alongside Guelph Farmers’ Market staff, the Community Food Project Assistant will support special seasonal events and activities
Other tasks and responsibilities:
- In this role and in consultation with their supervisor at 10C, the Community Food Project Assistant will have the opportunity to take on tasks and responsibilities in line with their individual interests.
The Community Food Project Assistant will bring these experiences and abilities to the role:
- Commitment and enthusiasm to working as part of a team, be willing to take on gardening and physical tasks outside
- Experience (work and / or volunteer) with community food projects – such as community gardening, cooking workshops, food events, community programming, farmers’ markets, etc.
- Experience in food production and / or food preparation (including cooking, canning and other food preservation methods)
- Experience supporting community programs, events, workshops and / or meetings with tasks like set-up, take down, anticipating needs and supporting community
- Experience creating or contributing content for various social media platforms, with familiarity of software programs like Google Workspace, Canva, and/or Airtable
- Physical labour (able to lift 50lbs) and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions will be part of this role
- Ability to communicate in languages other than English is an asset

- The work location is onsite at 10C Shared Space at 42 Carden Street, Guelph and at various community locations – the person in this role will be required to arrange transportation to various work sites
- This is a contract role based on 35 hours/week at $21.30/hour (Ontario living wage for Guelph-Wellington)

Graphic Design Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
We are currently seeking a Graphic Design Assistant to join the team this summer. This is an excellent role to develop digital design capabilities and working within a supportive and creative non-profit team environment.
Responsibilities of the Graphic Design Assistant will include:
In close collaboration with the 10C staff team, the Graphic Design Assistant will get to know 10C projects and programs. Using creativity, innovation and graphic design skills in Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Suite, the Design Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Support in the creation of graphics for 10C website, newsletters and social media channels, including the Guelph Farmers’ Market
- Create posters, brochures and other print promotional materials for various programs, projects and initiatives
- Design templates and guides for use by 10C staff to create their own graphics
- Use design to amplify messages and goals of project and programs, including local food security, sustainability and circularity
- Think creatively about sustainable design and printing methods to ensure assets match 10C goals and values
- Use AODA design guidelines to ensure that all materials are accessible
- Receive and incorporate feedback on designs from team, members and visitors
- Enhance design and readability of technical documents and wayfinding signage associated with projects and programs
- If of interest, the Graphic Design Assistant may assist and support in the creation of short videos for promotional purposes and update 10C project and program brand guides and support staff in adopting their use
- In this role and in consultation with their supervisor, the Graphic Design Assistant will have the opportunity to take on tasks and responsibilities in line with their individual interests.
The Graphic Design Assistant will bring these experiences and abilities to the role:
- Considerable design experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, with a portfolio of work to be shared with application
- Education in a design related field considered an asset (may be completed or in progress)
- Knowledge of requirements for different types of design – social media, printed posters, etc.
- Experience creating content for various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and/or other networks including BlueSky and Flashes
- Creativity and curiosity mindset in design, leading with ideas and possibility
- Attention to detail and a commitment to clear visual communication
- Commitment and enthusiasm to working as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team
- Dedicated to community building, creating equitable and dynamic public spaces and conversations
- Experience doing design-related work in a non-profit environment is an asset.
