Join Guelph Farmers’ Market vendors Hiba and Zaid from Olive Haven for breakfast, the most important meal of the day, with Palestinian flavours and techniques.  In this class you will learn how a traditional Palestinian family starts their day.

Being a part of the mediterranean diet, traditional Palestinian breakfast is loaded with fibre, nutrients, flavours and freshness.

First on the menu is baba ganoush – a traditional eggplant dip, hummus – a savoury chickpea dip and ful – ground fava beans. Then participants will learn how to make two famous Mediterranean salads, tabbouleh and fattoush, which are both a celebration of veggies and herbs in a bowl, and tossed with the only dressing a Palestinian mama needs in her repertoire.

Once our dips and salads are ready, we’ll move to making the tender manakeesh flatbread.  Participants will learn how to make it in five minutes, using whole wheat pita and three types of toppings: za’atar, akkawi cheese, and harissa.

In preparing this feast participants will use authentic Palestinian ingredients including extra virgin olive  oil and Za’atar imported from the West Bank.

We’ll finish the class by sitting down to enjoy our dishes together.
