Scandalous Guelph – Indoor Version

Intro to Camera Operation

Ed Video Media Arts Centre

Using a mix of lecture, demonstration and hands-on learning experience, this session will introduce participants to key concepts needed to properly operate a camera for the purposes of capturing video. This workshop will provide information that can be used in the operation of almost any modern video camera or video-capable still camera/device. Highly recommended for anyone who is starting out in video. This is a good primer for those who want to get serious about video, but will also be helpful for hobbyists. Participants are welcome and encouraged to bring their own camera if they have one.


Understanding Camera Lenses

The lens is the most important component of a camera and understanding its functions and characteristics can elevate the quality of any photo or video. With a mix of lecture, demonstration and hands-on experimentation, this workshop will provide participants with a better grasp of camera lenses and how to maximize their potential. Topics explored include lens types, lens handling, lens parts and their functions, how to select a lens and more.

Repair Cafe and the launch of Stitch Together: A Community Mending Project

The Guelph Tool Library will be hosting their next Repair Cafe on Saturday, April 27th from 11-3. At this event, you can bring your household items and have them fixed for free. This event will also celebrate the launch of Stitch Together: A Community Mending Project, a volunteer run group that will facilitate clothing drop-in sewing and mending sessions at the Guelph Tool Library.


Free to Read Book Sale

In celebration of World Book Day, the Free to Read Book Sale is taking place in the main concourse of the Old Quebec Street Shoppes and will feature over 5000 books for sale! Donations of books can be dropped off at the Guelph Tool Library until Monday April 15. Books will be available for just $1 a piece!

Guelph Dance Festival Announcement and Tickets on sale April 6th

Programming will be announced and tickets will go on sale on April 6th for the 26th annual Guelph Dance Festival through the River Run Centre’s Box Office. Explore the festival’s programming of compelling performances and uniquely engaging workshops with a dynamic range of marvellous local and national artists on the Guelph Dance website: guelphdance.ca


The festival will take place May 31 to June 2, 2024.

Join Dietitian and home cook Alida for a Meal Prep Cooking Class! You’ll make and take home 4 portions of Shepherd’s Pie and 4 portions of Sticky ginger meatballs with carrot and cucumber slaw. Breathe a big sigh of relief that delicious and nutritionally balanced meals are taken care of for the week.

Join us for ECSTATIC SHAKE by 10C member MYLKSHAKE: a monthly dance event for the 2SLGBTQ+ & Allied community. Focused on self-expression, healing, and joy – all in an alcohol-free environment.

📍 Where? Studio A, Guelph Youth Dance (42 Quebec Street, Guelph, Ontario).
🎶 What? Journey through sound with a curated DJ mix that flows from ambient and downtempo to lively house and disco, with everything in between.

Parent-Child Emotion Regulation Group (4 weeks)

Samantha Hicks (she/her) MSW, RSW and Michelle Baer (she/her) MA, RP, CCC

Samantha Hicks, MSW, RSW brings 12 years of clinical experience working with children and families in schools, community settings and in her private practice. Michelle Baer, MA, RP, CCC specializes in Play Therapy and Creative Arts Therapies, and brings 15 years of experience supporting families to feel more connected and joyful together.

Tuesdays in June 2024 (Dates: June 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th)

Through sharing knowledge and practical strategies, this group will help children ages 6-8 and their caregivers strengthen their connection and bolster their ability to manage big feelings. Each session will include time for parents and children to meet in separate groups as well as time to join all together.

$120 per session per family ($480 total per family, 1 or 2 caregivers are welcome to attend). Reimbursed by most extended health benefits. Registration closes May 14, 2024.
