Meditation Retreat Day

Elisabeth Schramm, Yoga and Meditation Teacher

Saturday September 30 | 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
$100 | St. Brigid’s Villa, Ignatius Jesuit Centre

During this full day of practice there will be alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation with time for gentle mindful movement. Having some experience with meditation will be helpful. Vegan lunch included. At St. Brigid’s Villa, Ignatius Jesuit Centre.

This series will be especially appealing to beginners, those who are interested in re-connecting to their practice, and those simply want to practice meditation with others. We’ll explore the building blocks to practice, including posture options, and various ways to focus the attention.
The practices will support the cultivation of awareness, self kindness and compassion.

Teenage Parent Program is back at 10C

Are you a young parent looking for help finishing school, getting a job, or finding child care? Or maybe, you’re just looking to connect with other young parents who understand the challenges (and joys) of parenting. Our TAPPs program, offered in partnership with the YWCA, fosters a safe space where pregnant and parenting youth age 14 to 25 can find a sense of belonging and community.

Learn about topics like child development, nutrition, stress management, budgeting, healthy relationships, behaviour management, goal setting and more through weekly activities. At TAPPs you’ll find support from your peers, Youth Workers, and resources for you and your children. Free child minding and a meal are provided every session.

We are able to produce bulk orders for your clients, staff or friends and family just in time for this season. We produce all our products fron recycled fabric in London Ontario made by local group of refugee women.

2nd Annual Tree Festival at Yorklands Green Hub

Yorklands Green Hub’s September walk will be part of Guelph/Wellington Local Immigration Partnership’s Welcoming Week on Sun. Sept. 17th, 1pm to 3pm. 

During Welcoming Week, come enjoy a walk through a naturalized area with ponds, meadows and forest.
It is also National Forest Week and we will celebrate trees!
You will see local artists creating, hear local musicians and your kids can enjoy a tree treasure hunt.

Eleven ticketed events –– highlights are [Ahmed], Ratchet Orchestra, Cory Smythe –– at downtown venues including River Run Centre, Royal City Mission, artBar, and Guelph Youth Music Centre, 20 free concerts in Market Square including the Friday Night Street Music Party in Market Square, 15 Sept 7pm-midnight, and free programming throughout 16 September, headlined by Witch Prophet (11pm). Preview programming 9-10 September, ‘GJF in the Parks,’ featuring Street Music Party groups performing in Norm Jary Park (9 Sept 2-5pm) and York Road Park (10 Sept 2-5pm).

Adobe After Effects for Beginners

Learn the fundamentals of Adobe After Effects, a digital visual effects and motion graphics application. The workshop will provide an overview of the program, including topics such as: starting a new project, importing media, starter tools, introduction to compositions, working with text and shapes, keyframe animation, and exporting.

Participants will need a laptop with Adobe After Effects software. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. Please email workshops@edvideo.org if you wish to use one.

Spend a fall day exploring the best of Guelph’s creativity! 
The recently expanded Guelph Studio Tour and Sale event is Saturday Oct 14th, 2023 10:00am – 6:00pm and Sunday Oct 15th, 2023 11:00am – 5:00pm. Forty three diverse and talented local artists have been selected by a jury and will open their studios or show their work in exhibition spaces. Explore worlds of jewellery, clay, oil, pastel, acrylic, mixed media, metal, papers, glass, textiles, wood, wax and watercolours.
The Red Brick Café will host a group show beginning Thursday
September 11 until November 6, 2023.
